Site accessibility
We think it is important that as many people as possible read about the Rights of the Child and the World's Children's Prize for the Rights of the Child. This is why we have begun adapting Childrensworld.org for groups with special needs.

Our goal is to make Childrensworld.org fully compliant with the international standard known as WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) as established by W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) and WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative). WCAG provides guidelines for how to make content more accessible for people with functional disabilities.

If you have any comments about Childrensworld.org or tips about how we can become more accessible, please contact us.

Change text size
You can change the size of the text in your browser. Generally we try to avoid having pictures in the menus, for instance, to avoid increasing or reducing the text.

This is how you do it:
Explorer: Go to the 'Tools' menu, choose 'Internet Options' and select the General tab. Click the box entitled Accessibility and ensure that all three buttons under Formatting are checked. Click OK in Accessibility dialog box and then click OK in Internet Options dialog box. Go to the 'View' menu, choose 'Text zoom' and increase the percentage if you want to make the text larger.
Netscape: Go to the 'View' menu, choose 'Text zoom' and increase the percentage if you want to make the text larger.
Safari: Go to the 'View' menu, choose 'Increase text size' or 'Reduce text size'.
Opera: Go to the 'View' menu, choose 'Zoom' and increase the percentage if you want to make the text larger.
Firefox: Go to the 'View' menu, choose 'Text Size' and then 'Increase' or 'Decrease'.

Showing graphic objects
Our aim is that all graphic objects, such as pictures and sound files, should have ALT text. ALT is used for describing objects that are not visible or if you have disabled pictures in your browser.

Uniform structure and design
Our goal is for the whole of Childrensworld.org to follow the same structure, to make it simple to grasp and find your way around. Read more about how to use Childrensworld.org here. At 'Site map' you will find an overview of the website's structure.

Are you using the whole window?
We decided to design Childrensworld.org for a minimum resolution of 640X480 pixels. This makes the site available to both visitors with new screens and those with older, lower-resolution screens. This also makes it simpler for functionally disabled users that may prefer a lower resolution.
